Powered by an Apple-designed second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, location guidance is delivered through visual, haptic, and audio cues when nearby. When items move beyond Bluetooth range, the Find My network is used to help report their approximate location while privacy remains protected through end-to-end encryption. A compact, lightweight design and durable IP67 resistance ensure that the tracker remains suitable for daily use across a wide range of environments.
Expanded Precision Finding Range
A more advanced Ultra Wideband chip has been implemented, allowing Precision Finding to work from up to 1.5 times farther than the previous generation. Directional guidance is provided through sound, vibration, and on-screen cues, helping misplaced items be located faster.
Louder Built-In Speaker
An updated internal acoustic design has been used to produce a sound that is up to 50 percent louder. Items hidden under cushions, inside bags, or in crowded spaces can be identified more easily by sound alone.
One-Tap Setup and Find My Integration
Pairing is completed instantly by bringing AirTag close to an iPhone or iPad. Once connected, tracking is managed entirely through the Find My app, where items can be viewed on a map or located with guided directions.
Privacy and Anti-Tracking Protections
Location data is never stored on the AirTag itself. All communication with the Find My network is encrypted, and rotating Bluetooth identifiers are used to reduce unwanted tracking. Alerts are provided across platforms when an unknown AirTag is detected nearby.
Durable and Compact Design
With a slim profile and lightweight construction, the tracker fits easily into accessories without adding bulk. An IP67 rating ensures resistance to dust and water immersion up to one meter for 30 minutes under controlled conditions.
The Apple AirTag 2 was introduced in 2026 and measures 1.26 inches in diameter with a height of 0.31 inch. A total weight of 0.42 ounce allows it to remain discreet when attached to everyday items. Connectivity is handled through Bluetooth, Ultra Wideband for Precision Finding, and NFC for Lost Mode interactions. A built-in speaker and accelerometer sensor are included.
Power is supplied by a user-replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery. Compatibility is provided with an Apple Account, iPhone models running iOS 26.0 or later, and iPad models running iPadOS 26.0 or later. Accessibility support is available through VoiceOver, Larger Text, Invert Colors, and compatibility with braille displays.
Environmental operation is supported between −4° and 140° F. Each box includes one AirTag with battery pre-installed and accompanying documentation.
As part of Apple’s 2030 commitment, the AirTag (2nd Generation) has been produced using recycled and low-carbon materials wherever possible. The enclosure contains 85 percent recycled plastic, while all Apple-designed circuit boards use recycled gold plating and tin solder. Magnets are made entirely from recycled rare earth elements, and packaging is produced using 100 percent fiber-based materials. No established final assembly sites generate landfill waste as part of Apple’s Zero Waste Program.
